John Hodgman – Advice for writers

So what makes a successful writer? In a nutshell perseverance but not of the deranged variety where you stalk literary agents / publishing houses in their every sleeping and waking moment, or conduct all manner of social embarrassments to be heard. No according to John Hodgman in his very funny video it is the low to medium talented writer who perseveres  that will gain the most success.  Other nuggets of useful information are 1)  know interesting things (aka be interesting, live interesting) and to know what you know.
